About SLC Epoxy Floor Pros

Locally owned epoxy and polyaspartic floor coating in Salt Lake City — building floors that survive Utah winters since we opened our doors.

Our Story

SLC Epoxy Floor Pros was founded by Salt Lake Valley homeowners who got tired of watching cheap floor coatings fail under Utah winters. We’d seen too many garages where a hardware-store paint kit lifted in the first ski season, too many “one-day coating” sales pitches that skipped diamond grinding, and too many out-of-state franchise installers who treated Wasatch Front slabs like they were in Phoenix. The work being done wasn’t the work that needed to be done.

So we built a different company. Local crew, local ownership, and a coating system designed specifically for Utah conditions — vapor-block primer, polyurea crack filler that handles freeze-thaw, polyaspartic topcoat that survives canyon-road brine and high-elevation UV. Every floor we coat gets calcium chloride moisture testing before we quote. Every quote is itemized in writing. Every install carries a 15-year topcoat warranty that’s transferable to the next homeowner. Nothing about how we work is generic.

Locally Owned, Salt Lake City-Based

We’re not a national franchise. We’re not a tail-light warranty company. SLC Epoxy Floor Pros is owned and operated in the Salt Lake Valley, our crew lives within 30 miles of every floor we coat, and our office is reachable by phone — not a 1-800 routing center in another state. When you call (385) 600-6216 you reach our actual office during business hours.

That local presence matters in two specific ways. First, accountability: if something needs follow-up under warranty, we’re 30 minutes away and we show up. Out-of-state franchise installers send a different crew, charge a trip fee, or just don’t come back. Second, knowledge: we know the difference between a 1960s Murray rambler slab and a 2010s Daybreak slab, between a Cottonwood Heights detached garage on a hillside and a flat-lot Bountiful home with alkaline-soil moisture. That knowledge changes the spec we write.

Meet the Team

Our crew is a tight team of installers and project managers, not a rotating cast of day-laborers. The crew lead who quotes your floor is the crew lead who installs it. We don’t sub work out. Every installer is trained on the full system — diamond grinding, moisture testing, crack repair, basecoat application, flake broadcast technique, and polyaspartic topcoat work. The metallic epoxy artistic work is handled in-house by our most experienced installer, not contracted to a third-party finisher.

Service Area

We coat floors across the Salt Lake Valley and into southern Davis County. Our regular service area includes Salt Lake City proper, Sandy, South Jordan, Draper, West Jordan, Murray, Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, and Bountiful. We also coat commercial floors in West Valley City, South Salt Lake, and Midvale on request. If you’re not sure whether you’re in our service area, call and ask — we usually are.

What Makes Us Different

We test every slab

Calcium chloride test, moisture meter readings, visual inspection of the floor-wall joint. We don’t quote a system blind. Cheap installers skip testing because testing sometimes finds problems they don’t want to address — then they coat anyway and the floor fails.

We don’t quote on the phone

A fair garage floor quote requires us to see the slab. Square footage, condition, moisture, crack count, existing-coating presence, and flake choice all change the number significantly. Phone quotes are guesses, and guess-quotes are how lowball bids end up with thousands in change orders. We do free on-site estimates.

We use polyaspartic, not paint

Polyaspartic topcoat is the engineering difference between a 15-year floor and a 2-year floor in Utah. UV-stable, chemical-resistant, won’t soften under heat, handles magnesium chloride brine. The cheaper installs in the valley use a urethane or even a thinned epoxy as the topcoat — both fail faster in this climate.

We give you a written warranty

15-year topcoat product warranty (UV chalking, delamination, chemical staining), 5-year workmanship warranty (adhesion, prep, install), transferable to the next owner. Written, signed, you keep a copy. Not a “lifetime” warranty with fine-print exclusions that void everything.

Why We Specialize in Epoxy and Polyaspartic Floors

We don’t do roofing on the side, we don’t pour driveways, and we don’t sell siding. Floor coatings are what we do every day. Specialization gives us depth: we’ve seen the failure modes that show up at 12 months, at 36 months, at 7 years, and we’ve adjusted our spec accordingly. A generalist contractor who coats floors as one of fifteen services they offer can’t know what we know about how a polyaspartic system performs through five Utah winters.

What We Don’t Do

We don’t sell epoxy paint kits from big-box stores. We don’t do quick “one-coat over existing coating” jobs that we know will fail. We don’t take work we can’t warranty — if a slab is actively wet, structurally moving, or otherwise not a coating candidate, we say so during the estimate and recommend the right next step (waterproofing, mud-jacking, or replacement) instead of coating over a problem.

We also don’t do same-day high-pressure sales. We don’t quote a “today only” discount. We don’t try to lock you into financing during the estimate visit. Take your time, get other quotes, and pick the system that’s right for your floor. We’re confident enough in our work that we don’t need to pressure-close anyone.

How We Got Here

Every install we do teaches us something. Five years of Utah winters across hundreds of Salt Lake Valley garages and basements has shaped the way we test slabs, the way we prime, the way we broadcast flake, and the way we walk through warranty terms. We’re better now than we were when we opened. We’ll be better in five years than we are today. That continuous improvement is what specialized local work delivers — and what franchise installers from out of state never offer.
